Ranking well on major search engines and inclusion in web directories is essential for modern business success as most potential customers will use them to research information and products/services via the Internet. In general, the major search engines (Google, Yahoo! and MSN) use crawlers, bots, and spiders that ‘crawl’ a website and index its content to be displayed on the search engine results pages. For a new website it is imperative to speed up this process by manual submission, otherwise the initial indexing of the site could take up to four months.
